🍃🛡️ SPRING RELEASE changed: from SCATTERED PROJECT RELEASES to ONE-DAY ALL-IN-ONE
🍃🛡️ SPRING RELEASE changed: from SCATTERED PROJECT RELEASES to ONE-DAY ALL-IN-ONE
Two weeks of releases are becoming ONE coordinated day. ⚡
🔸 TLDR
Spring is changing how its release train works.
Before, releases across the Spring portfolio were spread over roughly TWO WEEKS.
Different projects shipped on different days.
Now?
👉 The entire Spring portfolio will be released together, in ONE coordinated monthly drop.
Why this change?
Security is moving much faster.
Spring reports nearly 80 community security reports per month since March, on top of its own AI-powered internal scanning.
More than 160 new CVEs have already been fixed.
🔸 BEFORE
The Spring release train was scattered across several days:
▪️ one project released
▪️ another project followed later
▪️ more releases arrived during the following days
▪️ the whole train could span around 2 weeks
That worked when patching speed was less critical.
But Spring says vulnerabilities can now be exploited in HOURS rather than DAYS.
🔸 NOW
Spring has re-engineered the process.
Instead of releasing portfolio projects progressively:
👉 Framework + Boot + Security + Data + the rest of the train can ship together.
ONE DAY.
ONE coordinated patch train.
ONE monthly release point. 🛡️
The regular date becomes:
📅 the Thursday after the third Monday of each month.
The first regular patch train under this model is planned for October 22, 2026.
🔸 WHY AI MATTERS 🤖
AI is accelerating vulnerability discovery.
It does not mean AI created all these CVEs.
It means researchers, security teams and attackers can inspect much more code, much faster.
If vulnerabilities are found faster, the release process also needs to become faster.
That is the interesting part here:
AI is not only changing how we WRITE software.
It is changing how we RELEASE and PATCH it.
🔸 TAKEAWAYS
▪️ Spring releases were previously spread across ~2 weeks
▪️ The portfolio now moves to one coordinated release day
▪️ The cadence remains monthly
▪️ Security fixes can reach users more consistently
▪️ AI-driven vulnerability discovery is forcing release engineering to evolve
