The Sprint is one of the five 5๏ธโƒฃ Scrum events.

This is the event that people often forget about because it is a container ๐Ÿ“ฆevent.

This container holds the space for all of the work to create the shippable Increment of product, and it is limited to one month or less in duration.

This container starts with Sprint Planning ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ and ends with the Sprint Retrospective ๐Ÿ“บ.

Then the next Sprint immediately starts ๐Ÿ’จ.

The Scrum Guide calls the Sprint the โ€œheart ๐Ÿ’– of Scrum.โ€

The purpose of a Sprint is to create a potentially releasable product Increment ๐Ÿ“ฆ of value to the organization ๐Ÿข.

What value ๐Ÿ’ต is to be delivered is guided ๐Ÿฆฎ by the Sprint Goal, ๐ฐ๐ก๐ข๐œ๐ก ๐๐จ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ง๐จ๐ญ โŒ ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž during the Sprint.

They can set aside distractions ๐Ÿฅณ not related to this purpose.

They can take the new information they have uncovered and adapt ๐Ÿ”ƒ their plan without losing focus.

This consistent cadence helps a Scrum Team understand ๐Ÿง  what they are capable of delivering in a period of time.

As a Scrum Team understands this and continues to work together, they can better forecast ๐Ÿ”ฎ delivery expectations.

A Scrum Team can change the length of a Sprint, but they donโ€™t change it constantly.

So the real driver โ˜ธ๏ธ of the length of a Sprint is how often the business needs to inspect the Increment.

This gives the business control ๐Ÿ‘ฎ without creating an unstable situation for the Development Team.

The Scrum Team has focus on a Sprint Goal and a time box โฐ.

These boundaries create the freedom for effective self-organization, collaboration โšฝ, and experimentation.

Teams have to learn by doing, inspecting, and adapting along the way.

Sometimes there will be a failure โ˜น๏ธ.

A Sprint limits the impact of failure to the time box of the Sprint.
