GIT FLOW RELEASE: the commands behind the command

Have you ever used '𝒎𝒗𝒏 -ð‘Đ 𝒈𝒊𝒕𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒘:𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆-𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒈𝒊𝒕𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒘:𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆-𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉'?

 

It is used to proceed to the release of your develop branch.

Let's see what it does behind the scene:

 

1ïļâƒĢ ðŸ…ĩðŸ…ļ🆁🆂🆃, ðŸ…ķðŸ…ļ🆃 ðŸ…ĩðŸ…ŧðŸ…ū🆆 🆂🆃🅰🆁🆃

$ 𝒈𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 1.4.0

This will automatically do the following:

👉 create a new branch named release/1.4.0 from the develop branch,

👉 checkout the release/1.4.0 branch.

 

2ïļâƒĢ 🆃🅷ðŸ…īðŸ…―, ðŸ…ķðŸ…ļ🆃 ðŸ…ĩðŸ…ŧðŸ…ū🆆 ðŸ…ĩðŸ…ļðŸ…―ðŸ…ļ🆂🅷

$ 𝒈𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉 1.4.0

This will:

👉 Merge changes into the master branch,

👉 Create a 1.4.0 tag,

👉 Merge changes into the develop branch,

👉 Remove your local release\1.4.0 branch.
