There’s a pattern many teams miss 🌒:
an engineer understands the problem 💡, slices the work into small tasks 🪓, and ships code with almost nothing to fix 📦.
Not every commit is a bullseye—but when they are, they tend to have small to modest impact and get approved on the first try. 🥇 Celebrate them! 🥳
HOW TO SPOT A BULLSEYE COMMIT
- ⌛ Started and finished well before the deadline, with negligible churn
- 📏 Small-to-modest scope, focused impact
- 🕵️ Substantive code review (not rubber-stamping)
- ✅ Approved on the first pass
WHAT TO DO
-🧍♂️ Give a shout-out in stand-up or drop a quick note: “Saw that check-in—nice job!”
- 🍕 Invite repeat bullseye hitters to run a lunch & learn on their approach
- 🤝 Ask them to co-review or mentor on tricky PRs to spread the habit
Small, timely, well-reviewed commits compound into big outcomes.
Let’s make them visible—and repeatable. 💪
